Location: Carlisle and surrounding towns
Hours: 3-5 days blocks of 24-hour shifts/sleep in
Salary: Experience dependent + Sleep in allowance
As a Senior Residential Support worker, you will work closely with the management team to efficiently drive key result areas within the children’s home. By providing direct day-to-day care to young people and by developing the skills of the Residential Support Workers, you will be happy to go the extra mile to really make a difference!
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • To take responsibility for the effective running of shifts and to deputize in the manager’s absence
  • To manage the team and ensure effective delivery of policies and procedures
  • To actively encourage the delivery of a safe and structured environment for young people and the staff working with them
  • To ensure a variety of intervention strategies are utilized in relation to behavior management
  • To ensure that all aspects of the young person’s physical, emotional and social needs are met
  • To device action plans for the young people and and motivate towards achieving realistic goals
Essential Criteria:
  • Minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People (or equivalent)
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role
  • Excellent leadership skills and the ability to motivate others
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrable experience of managing people in a residential setting
  • To be able to report and record information accurately and to a high standard and to feedback at meetings
  • Knowledge of the Children Act 1989/2004
  • A full UK driving license
  • The ability to work shifts, including weekends, evenings and sleep ins
  • To be willing to undergo any further training and to want to develop
